The theme of this year’s annual Sigma Symposium is “LED there be light”! Though this may seem a bit physical subject for a molecular sciences symposium, light plays an important role in a lot of these fields and is an important factor in (bio)chemistry. In this year’s symposium, we will show you how broad this subject really is. There will be an interesting lecture about alternative solar panels, but also about the creation of an actual invisibility cloak! On top of that we will be told about how more sunlight can actually reduce the chance to get specific forms of cancer, the usage of Next Generation Sequencing during the improvement of oil and the molecular mechanisms of the light reactions of photosynthesis.
The symposium will take place on April 17th 2018 in the Faculty of Science of the Radboud University Nijmegen. During this day, a diverse selection of lectures will be given with several breaks in between. The day closes with an informal drink to which all visitors and lecturers are invited. Subscriptions open in March, so we hope to see you there!
Tickets are available on the Sigma website for €5,- (€7,50 for non-members).
